1991 Custom Catboat / Catsloop Trick or Treat, Michael Keane Design.
Keane was one of Massachusetts premiere nautical artists.
In addition to being an artist of renown, he was also an engineer, designer, and sculptor.
In 1991 he began construction on his cat sloop.
Crawford Boatbuilding (of Melonseed Skiff fame) laid up the hull in Marshfield, MA.
From there, Keane employed various shipwrights and craftsmen to complete the boat.
Launched in late 1992, she is an extraordinary example of ingenuity, quality, and balance.
Meticulously renovated and restored, she turns heads whether under sail, docked, or trailered.
Along with her Olde Towne tender, Boo, the pair are a delight to show off and sail in any weather.
I bought the boat and tender from a friend a few years back who rescued her from Keanes estate, and have enjoyed her immensely.
There are photos, more details, and background at this link: https://www.boatnation.com/listing/1993-22-custom-catboat-trick-or-treat/ .
Keane was a stickler for details.
His design and capacity to create art while so perfectly maintaining function within the form is astounding.
The quality of materials and finishing are sublime.
Im hopeful that Trick or Treat will find an owner to delight and excite for years to come.
She launches from her trailer and with the electric winch for stepping the mast, is rigged and ready to sail in less than an hour with minimal effort.
The anti-fouling bottom paint provides extra protection if you dock for longer.
